The Maryland Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) laws require Public Utilities and Retail Electricity Sellers to purchase SRECs produced by in-state solar facilities. These entities are obligated to buy an increasing number of SRECs per year, or pay a fine known as the Solar Alternative Compliance Payment (SACP).
Flett Exchange brokers the sale of SRECs between you and the energy companies required to buy them.
The Brighter Tomorrow Act was signed into law in July 2024, allowing residential solar facilities to generate SRECs with a compliance value of 1.5x. Flett Exchange registers all eligible customers for inclusion in this program.

MD "BT" SRECs: Spot Price EstimatesPrices will decline over time because the fine that energy companies pay for not buying SRECs decreases each year. |

Annual SREC Income Formula: System Size (kW DC) x 1.3 × $/SREC = Estimated Annual Income

Maryland SREC Certification Fee: MD PSC Brighter Tomorrow program (BT) now charges for SREC certification. Flett Exchange pays this fee in advance for clients and deducts it from the 1st SREC sale. MD PSC fee is $50 for 20kW and less, $200 for 20kW and larger. We have a $25 fee on top to cover the float and processing.
If you join REC Manager, you are not under contract for time and are free to switch brokers or self-manage at your discretion.
